Uber

Susan Fowler, whose blog post regarding the harassment she faced at Uber went viral and set a whole series of events in motion, has taken up the services of California employment attorneys Baker, Curtis & Schwartz. The ex-Uber employee said that her decision was influenced by a series of factors including, Uber referencing her by name in its e-mail to customers that were deleting their accounts.

In case you are unaware of the whole affair, here is a short summary to get you up to speed: Susan Fowler Rigetti is a Stripe employee who worked with Uber prior to joining the payments company. Last month, she claimed that she faced harassment while working at Uber and no actions were taken against the offender despite her complaints. Following Riggetti’s Medium post, CEO Travis Kalanick, board member Ariana Huffington, former Attorney General Eric Holder were among those who directly involved themselves with investigations.

The revelation also saw a resurgence of the #deleteUber campaign that had previously seen over 200,000 irate customers remove the app from their devices. What’s more, the company also circulated an e-mail to customers in which the company mentioned Susan Fowler by name, something she isn’t feeling too pleased about.

In response, Fowler has taken up the service of a California based law firm.

Fowler tweeted:

Uber names/blames me for account deletes, and has a different law firm -not Holders – investigating me. I have hired http://www.bakerlp.com

Fowler also mentioned the fact that Uber had set another law firm to investigate her as well.

Earlier, Rigetti had claimed that her close friends and family members were being reached over phone, with the person at the other end making unsolicited inquiries about her. Uber had disclaimed all responsibility behind the phone calls. As far as naming her in e-mails is concerned, the company said that while it had mentioned her name in the initial e-mails, it had stopped circulating them soon.

Meanwhile, hiring a lawsuit could also allow Fowler to consider her options, including bringing in a lawsuit against the cab hailing firm should she want to.
