Twitch has announced a progressive step this morning, wherein the Amazon owned game streaming website will sell games directly on its platform. Considering the fact that the developers have started seeking reviews of their games utilizing the platforms broad community base, the step is not particularly surprising. Although the company has not released a date, it has confirmed that games will be put on display from this spring.

The company has also stated that they have a long list of developers waiting for their debut, ranging from small indie publishers to some big giants of the gaming world. Ubisoft, Telltale Games, Digital Extremes, Hi-Rez Studios, tinyBuild, Paradox Interactive, Trion Worlds, Vlambeer, and others all have their names on the launch list.

You may download and play the game using the launcher, the software currently engaged in providing Twitch Prime customers with their games and loot codes. Twitch prime, Twitch’s adaptation of Amazon Prime, is the probable reason behind the move of selling games, recalling the variety of benefits it offers on released games, which include discounts on new release titles and free release-day delivery. It appears that this new move is a part of making purchases a regular part of the platform.

You also have other options for downloading and playing the games. Apart from Twitch launcher feel free to switch to other existing developer and publisher-operated services like Uplay. Meanwhile, this move is sure to put Twitch in rivalry with certain game marketplaces like Valve.

The games may be advertised on the site along with the live stream, where the “Buy Now” option will feature in bright purple along with the game’s price. You may also find the games on channel pages. 70 percent of the generated revenue will go to the developers, and Twitch partner streamers will  have a 5 percent share from their channel pages.

To lure more customers, the company will also offer its buyers with a free Crate, which comes with many perks like exclusive emotes, chat badges and Bits for cheering – normally the stuffs costs users money.

Chris Early, VP of Digital Publishing at Ubisoft said;

For years we have appreciated how supportive Twitch streamers and viewers have been of our games. This made it an easy decision to work with Twitch to better serve our passionate community with benefits for everyone.

Twitch’s games will initially be rolling out worldwide in English this spring and the pricing will be in U.S. dollars. However, developers will include local ones as well.
