Since Samsung isn’t planning to launch the Galaxy S8 at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, its Korean counterpart LG might take control of the trade show. The hardware giant will unveil its flagship device, the LG G6, on February 26 and has already sent out press invites for the same. Thus, the rumor mill is now treating us with one leak after another.

Though we’ve already seen CAD renders from the device’s presentation, this leak gives us the first look at a real-life prototype of the LG G6. Droid Life has got its hands on a supposed prototype for the company’s upcoming flagship. The source, known to Droid Life, for this leaked photographs has gone to great lengths to uncover surprises LG was hiding under wraps for us. This is not a finished product but one can at least make out what all hardware features the G6 will incorporate.

As can be seen in the beaten-down images attached above, LG has particularly focused on the design aesthetics of their flagship smartphone this time around. The LG G6 is expected to be packed within a unibody metal construction, with a polished chamfer around the edges. The bottom view of the phone hasn’t been included here, but the phone packs a USB Type-C port and speaker grill. The audio jack will make an appearance at the top.

Also, the display has definitely been perked up. LG G6, as expected, will include a near bezel-free display. It will fall short of the crazy bezel-less concept smartphone, Mi Mix, released by Xiaomi. This device is, however, keeping the top and bottom chin intact to include the front camera, speaker, sensors and branding respectively. The display can also be seen to include rounded corners, as had been seen in the CAD render.

Since the display is massive and without bezels, this also corroborates the announcement made by LG Display a couple weeks ago. LG G6 is said to sport a massive 5.7-inch Quad HD+ display with a rather unexpected aspect ratio of 2:1. This makes the resolution of the display, i.e 2880 x 1440 pixels, to stand out from the crowd.

This leaked photograph also confirms that LG is definitely looking to ditch its modular strategy. The device pictured above can also be seen to include a non-removable battery, which was suggested to be the case in a previous leak. Further, the LG G6 is packing the usual setup on the rear dual camera, flash, and fingerprint sensor front.

Though this is one of the most exciting developments we’ve received for LG G6 in recent days, this leak doesn’t help us picture the device in all its metallic glory. Looks like we’ll have to wait until Mobile World Congress, being held in Barcelona towards the end of February, to get a closer look at the device. The absence of Samsung’s flagship is expected to cut competition and boost sales for this Korean behemoth.
