Update: Mac Otakara appears to have gotten its sources mixed up this time. As per AppleInsiderwhich claims to have received direct communication from Apple on the topic, no such plans regarding an iPhone 6 battery exchange program are currently active.

We constantly evaluate service statistics. There are no plans or grounds for a wide iPhone 6 battery exchange program at this time.

Previously: The latest rumor from the Japanese website Mac Otakara states that tech behemoth Apple might be making preparations for the launch of an iPhone 6 battery exchange program. However, the reasons for launching such a program (if its launched at all) remain unrevealed.

In this November, Apple launched an iPhone 6 battery exchange program for “very small number of iPhone 6s devices” which ” may be unexpectedly shutting down.” Apple had determined that it had made some manufacturing defects while setting up the batteries for the iPhone 6 and the various comlaint coming up across the country were not the result of damage inflicted due to misuse by the consumers — nstead they were the results of some mistakes made at the company’s end.

Following the realization, Apple announced that affected iPhone users could exchange their batteries free of charge. However, any relation between the existing program and the new, rumored one remains undeclared.

Several users have complained that their iPhone 6 handset abruptly shut down with around 30% battery life remaining. In response, Apple notified that this is merely a feature designed to protect the iPhone’s internal components from low voltage and not any safety issue. But the affected batteries would still be changed.

However, November was not the first time, Apple had taken such a step. Previously, an iPhone 5 Battery Replacement Program was launched in November 2014, after Apple found out that a “very small percentage of iPhone 5 devices may suddenly experience shorter battery life or need to be charged more frequently.”

Well, Mac Otakara boasts for precisely leaking many iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus features beforehand, the most prominent one being the removal of  headphone jack. However, its reveal about the launch of iPhone 7 in a new “jet white” color is yet to happen, or has proved to be false. Meanwhile, we will keep an eye on the story and update it as more developments occur.
