Lenovo P2 smartphone, which sports a massive 5100mAh battery, is slated to launch in India on January 11. Also, the smartphone will be a Flipkart exclusive. Lenovo confirmed the same in a tweet from its official account, and Flipkart has put promotional banners running on its homepage for the same.

The smartphone was first unveiled at IFA 2016, which took place in early September last year. The device follows Lenovo’s K6 Power, K6 Note launched in India towards the end of 2016. Thanks to the popularity of its budget smartphones, Lenovo is now also the number two smartphone vendor in India, according to data from research firm IDC.

Confirming the launch of P2, Lenovo tweeted, “With 3 days to go, are you ready to hold the power? Lenovo P2- the #Powerhouse is coming to keep you going. Unveiling on 11th Jan, 12:30pm. Since the Flipkart homepage is not asking users to register, it seems that device will be open for all to purchase.

Just like the P1 smartphone, the Lenovo P2 has its battery as the USP. The phone comes with a 5100mAh battery, and also supports on-to-go charging and fast charging. Further, the phone can also be used as a power bank to charge other smartphones.

The phone features a 5.5-inch full HD Super AMOLED display (1920×1080 pixels). It is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor clocked at 2 GHz, coupled with 3GB/4GB of RAM, while the storage space remains the same in both phones — 32GB, and is expandable to 128GB via a micro SD slot.

In terms of optics, the Lenovo P2 sports a 13 MP rear camera with a LED flash and there’s also a 5 MP camera sensor on the front. There is also a fingerprint scanner on the front home button and it runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS.

It will be interesting to see how Lenovo prices the P2 smartphone in India, given that the P1 was nearly Rs 15,999 when it was launched.
