Chinese smartphone maker Vivo has today launched its flagship phone — Vivo V5 in the Indian market. And as expected, it comes with a 20 MP front facing camera.

The phone comes with a 5.5-inch HD display with screen resolution of 1280 × 720 pixels and 2.5D curved Gorilla glass. The company has also included a “global eye protection” mode that changes the color temperature and makes it easy on eyes to view content in various light conditions.

Under the hood, the device is powered by a MediaTek MT6750 octa-core processor, clocked at 1.5GHz, along with 4GB of RAM and 32GB internal storage. The storage is further expandable up to 128 GB, thanks to the microSD card slot.

Coming to the central focus of the phone — camera. On the back, there is a 13 MP sensor with a single LED flash while the front sports a 20-megapixel selfie shooter with a flashlight that Vivo refers to as “moonlight flash”. The company claims that the camera can capture a perfect selfie anytime during the day or night. It is equipped with a Sony IMX 376 (1/2.78-inch, f/2.0) sensor.

The Vivo V5 runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow based Fun Touch OS 2.6. For security on the device, there is also a fingerprint scanner on the front that also acts as the home button. It is claimed to unlock the screen in just 0.2 seconds. It is a water resistant sensor, enabling you to unlock the phone even with wet hands.

The phone is powered by a 3000 mAh battery. Connectivity options on the device include 4G LTE with the band support for FDD LTE 1/3/5 and TDD LTE Band 40, along with VoLTE (Voice over LTE) support. Other connectivity options include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS. Further, the device comes with AK4376 dedicated Hi-Fi audio chip that offers high quality sound and is also capable of delivering signal-to- noise ratio of up to 115dB.

The Vivo V5, which is priced at Rs. 17,980 in India, will be available for pre-order from 16th November to 25th November. The phone will be competing against the likes of Gionee S6s, Oppo F1s and Lenovo Z2 Plus.

Another variant of the V5, named Vivo V5 Plus is expected to launch in the Indian market in January 2017. The company has confirmed that this smartphone will have a dual front facing camera.
