Get your hands up Surface fans. Microsoft has started sending out cryptic invites for s special, October 26th event and it is highly likely that we will be feasting our eyes upon a brand new, all in one device. The event is also expected to play host to some software announcement associated with the next Windows 10 updates and perhaps some news about the company’s Xbox platform.

There have been rumors of a brand new Surface all in one since the past few days. They began when renders of s Surface branded keyboard and mouse started doing the rounds of the web. Coming on the heels of this leak, the event is very likely to give us our newest Surface.

The company is also expected to provide details about the future of its Windows 10 platform. Microsoft has repeatedly emphasized the fact that its Windows 10 is not a platform as much a constantly improving process. And it appears like the next step along its evolution is here.

Microsoft is expected to talk about some major software announcements that will be making their way to the Windows 10 platform next year in two different updates. Some of these updates are also likely to fit with the company’s Xbox platform and that will be another point that Microsoft may discuss cone October 26.

A blog post by the company merely said,

Join us to see what’s next for Windows 10, save the date to watch the livestream of our #MicrosoftEvent in New York City on Wednesday October 26, 2016 at 10AM EDT/7AM PDT.

While the invite doesn’t mention a new device, most sources agree that the company will not be launching the next devices along any of its existing lineups. Microsoft hasn’t really introduced any major hardware for its Windows 10 platform for quite a while, so the timing would certainly be ripe. Meanwhile, some new information about a software update seems almost certain. Microsoft is also expected to display devices made by partner manufacturers.

There are also some rumors about a device with modular components that could make an appearance. Let’s keep our finger crossed, shall we? Meanwhile, do remember to tune in to The TechPortal on the 26th for all the exciting news and announcements straight from the event.
