Xiaomi today took the wraps off its new smartphone in the Redmi Note series, dubbed as Redmi Note 4. The smartphone is a successor of the Redmi Note 3 smartphone, and is priced at around $135.

The phone has retained the premium looks and metal unibody construction, which was introduced in the Redmi Note 3. However, this time, Xiaomi has given brushed metal finish and chamfered edges so that the phone feels better in hands.

The Redmi Note 4 sports a 5.5-inch full HD display with resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels, and a 2.5D curved glass. Under the hood, it is powered by a MediaTek Helio X20 processor, with Mali-T880MP4 GPU.

The precessor will be different when the phone gets launched in India. Since Xiaomi cannot use MediaTek processor due to its on-going legal battle, the Indian variant will feature a Qualcomm processor.

It comes with two different memory options – 2GB RAM and 3GB RAM. The 2GB RAM model comes with a 16GB internal storage option, while the 3GB RAM model comes with 64GB internal storage. It also has a microSD card slot for expanding storage on the device.

As of the camera, the Redmi Note 4 comes with the same 13 MP rear camera and 5 MP front-facing shooter as its predecessor. It will be interesting to see the camera specs of the phone when it gets launched in India as Redmi Note 3 in India comes with an upgraded 16 MP rear camera.

The phone runs on MIUI 8 based on Android 6.0 Marshmallow out-of-the-box. It is powered by a huge 4100mAh battery. There is also a fingerprint scanner included at the back of the phone.

The 2 GB RAM and 16 GB storage version of the Redmi Note 4 is priced at CNY 899 (around $135), while the 3 GB and 64 GB storage model costs CNY 1199 ( around $180).

While the company has not annoucned the launch timeline in other regions, we hope that Xiaomi launches this Redmi Note 4 in India soon. Notably, Redmi Note 3, is one of the best selling smartphones in the Indian market.
