An idea which started last year on Valentine’s day is going to make history in coming weeks. On July 20 TechBase, SoGal, Lean In China and Krspace, are proud to host Her Startup Competition at Silicon Valley to create a platform for female entrepreneurs where they get to showcase their creativity and strength. Wobe and Vanitee won Singapore chapter of the competition, and will participate next month in the main event.

Top 15 startups will be selected from USA and Asia to receive mentorship, funding and media opportunities along with access to investors, CEOs, and like-minded entrepreneurs.

Virginia Tan, founder of Lean In China says,

We thought it was a joke! Sitting and talking about how we can get more female entrepreneurs but now we see ourselves leave a mark.

Startups who pitched at the event are mostly focused on introducing different products, for example, Bakipa wants to be a marketplace for the baby products, whereas Delegate wants to create a hub for event companies. Doyenne works on e-mag to inspire women on their relentless pursuit of success whereas fashion startup, Fashory aims to solve dressing up dilemmas.

Photomoolah explained how they are solving biggest issue of branding by giving authentic pictures to brands across the world, while Venn talked about giving the right candidate to the employers and right environment to the employee, Lynk explained the knowledge network they are building.

The winning teams, Wobe and Vanitee will participate in an immersive week-long experience at Silicon Valley. They gave insights of their progress and how they can scale if funded well. Wobe, an Indonesian startup which makes Mobile Business & Finance Tools for Southeast Asian Women showed how women can earn from a simple recharge. Vanitee is helping women by Booking beauty services online and offers best deals to them. It recently acquired Mefitted, a beauty salon e-directory to meet growing demand for the offered services.

During the interview with Pocket Sun, founder and CEO of SoGal Ventures said,

We will also be looking forward to investing in selected exceptional startups that appear in the finals.

She also said that being a woman is the best way to return back to society. She wants to help women grow in the startup world and strongly believes that every woman can be what she wants to be. She further said, Redefine yourself and believe in yourself are the key principles one should follow to make a startup successful.

Last year 25% of finalist startups received outside investment totaling US$ 3.5 million. Let’s see who wins Her Startup 2016.
