Xiaomi unveils its $23 Mi Band 2 with OLED Display

Chinese maker Xiaomi has unveiled a new activity tracker named as Mi Band 2. And unlike its predecessor, this one does come with a display and a few other additional features. The company has continued its aggressive pricing strategy and priced the wearable at about $23.

Mi Band 2 comes with a 40.3mm length, a width of 15.7mm, and a side width of 10.5mm and weighs just 7 grams. It features a 0.42 inch OLED display, ADI accelerometer, and PPG (photoplethysmography) sensor as a heart rate monitor.

Like almost all other fitness trackers, the device is able to track your activity in the form of steps taken, heart rate, and the amount of sleep.

The display shows the current time, steps taken, heart rate and even gives an approximate idea of distance and calorie counters.Mi Band 2 has a 70 mAh battery which has 20-day day standby time according to the company.

The wearable supports Bluetooth 4.0 connectivity and is compatible with devices running Android 4.4 and above as well as iOS 7.0 and above.

Mi Band 2 is made up of skin-friendly thermoplastic elastomers material with a touch of aluminium as well. The band comes in a variety if colours namely Black, Blue, Green, and Orange. It also carries an IP67 certification and is water resistant.

This is the third fitness tracker from Xiaomi as after first Mi Band, the company had launched Mi Bund Pulse last year. The band was without display but came with additional features to measure the heart rate through PPG sensor and track your sleep.

Xiaomi had once surprised everyone in the world by introducing its activity tracker Mi Band at a price of $16. The feat helped the Chinese maker to become the second largest wearable manufacturer behind Fitbit.

The company claims to have sold over 20 million trackers till now. The company has not revealed anything about the international sales of Mi Band 2. It will begin selling in China from June 7.
