Car and bike pooling is increasingly becoming the new rage among startups, with companies hoping to become the next Uber or Ola, sprouting up in almost every city. Along the same direction, car and bike pooling application Liftiee, has managed to raise seed funding from Former Roadies presenter Rannvijay Singh and TV actor Anita Hassanandani, making others.

The seed round has seen the Mumbai based company collect close to INR 72 lakhs.

Attempts towards bike aggregation have been having a pretty bad run of late with attempts in the direction, running into roadblocks put up by the state governments. In Bangalore for example, the government deemed Uber’s bike service illegal and indeed, ended up seizing several associated motorbikes.

However, founders Ritvik Mathur and Rashid Khan appear to be confident of pulling it off. The app can he used only by private vehicles for the car and bike pooling purposes based on government id proof and license.

As per Rashid Khan,

The law does not bar cars and bikes from charging a nominal amount for ride-pooling towards maintenance and fuel charges. Liftiee works on the same principal and will be available to users at the cost of Rs 10 for up to 3 km distance which will be paid through the wallet.

Will, bypassing the government may not prove to be quite so easy, but let’s see. Meanwhile, investments now have an element of glitz to them as well, with actors flush with money, looking to acquire easy equity in early stage businesses showing promise.
