Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi has got two brand new smartphones lined up for launch in India. One, the Redmi Note 3 has been launched in India – which is set to become the second largest market for smartphones by 2017 – earlier today, while the Mi 5 is set to debut next month.

The same day of the launch,  Though the exact date of the launch has not been confirmed, Barra revealed that the smartphone which was launched in China this month will be coming to India before the end of April.

The Redmi Note 3 was the major launch of the day for Xiaomi for the Indian market. Xiaomi had earlier revealed that the smartphone will be launched in India by March. The smartphone is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 650 chipset and has been priced starting from Rs 9,999.

The Redmi Note 3 will be up for sale in India from March 9 on Xiaomi’s official website and on Amazon.in. It is also expected to be available on Flipkart and Snapdeal shortly after.

The Redmi Note 3 comes with 16 GB and 32 GB variants. The 16 GB variant has 2 GB of RAM and comes with 4,000 mAh battery, the 32 GB variant packs 3 GB of RAM and 4,050 mAh battery. While the 16 GB variant is priced at Rs 9,999, its 32 GB model is available for Rs. 11,999.

The Redmi Note 3 boasts of a 16-megapixel rear camera and a 5-megapixel front camera and comes in a full-metal design. The device is slightly curved, which some users might find comfortable while using the device.

The smartphone also comes with a fingerprint scanner and as per Xiaomi’s calculations, users can unlock the device within 0.3 seconds by using the scanner. The device also offers a unique unlock mechanism, where in users can use their lips to unlock the device through the sensor.

The sensor also doubles up as a shutter button while clicking photos. Interesting feature about this smartphone is that it offers a hybrid SIM card slot, which allows users to either go for two SIM cards or a single macro-SIM card and use the other slot for a microSD card.

The Redmi 3 Note has an a 5.5-inch display with a resolution of 1920×1080 pixels. Both the variants support Quick Charge allowing the smartphones to reach 50 percent charge within an hour. The smartphone supports 4G LTE with VoLTE.

The up-starts flagship brand – the Mi 5 – was introduced by Xiaomi at the Mobile World Congress held in Barcelona last month. After being launched in China, the smartphone has received an overwhelming response, with about 16.8 million registrations for Mi 5 in its first flash sale.

The Mi 5 comes with 32 GB, 64 GB and 128 GB variant. The 32 GB model is powered by a 1.8GHz Snapdragon 820 chipset, and has 3 GB of RAM. The 64 GB variant on the other hand is powered by 2.15GHz Snapdragon 820 chipset, but maintains the same 3 GB of RAM allocated to the 32 GB variant. The 128 GB variant packs the most power among the two with 4GB of RAM and comes with a 3D glass back cover. It also features a 3D Ceramic body for the added appeal.

In terms of the design the smartphone has a 5.15-inch 1080p display. It boasts of 4-megapixel front camera and a 16-megapixel rear camera that can record 4K videos.

Xiaomi has packed Mi 5 with a 3,000mAh battery that comes with Quick Charge 3.0 capabilities. The smartphone also offers fingerprint scanner, dual-SIM card and 4G LTE support.

Xiaomi also unveiled a Mi Bluetooth Speaker that has been priced at Rs 1,999. The Bluetooth speaker has an aluminium body and comes in Blue, Gold and Pink colour variants. The Mi Bluetooth speaker is expected to go on sale later this month.

The speaker has a built-in mic and offers a microSD card slot as well. The speaker also allows users to make calls while it’s connected to the smartphone. When listening to songs, there is no need for the speaker to be connected to a device, as the users can directly play songs by inserting a microSD card.

With so much of power hungry devices being launched by Xiaomi, the Chinese up-start has announced the launch of a 20,000 mAh power bank to fuel devices in times of need. The power bank comes with two USB ports. Like the Mi 5, Xiaomi has not revealed the launch date of this product, but expect it to hit the stores by next month.
