Facebook is known to make changes to its timeline frequently, in order to attune it to the current trends and technologies. Well, the company is doing it yet again, this time to cater to the newly introduced Live Videos feature.
It appears that the live videos have been getting quite popular. At least the company said as much, in a blog post.
Over the last three months Facebook Live video has become more and more popular and more and more people and Pages are creating and watching live videos.
Also stating the fact that people spend above 3x more time watching a Facebook Live video on average compared to a video that’s no longer live.
So, in keeping with this interest, the company is making changes that will put live videos near the top of the news feed. The decision makes sense too– after all, live videos kind of lose their point if you get to them after browsing through a ton of other stuff for hours.
Facebook Live videos are more interesting in the moment than after the fact. So as you constantly refresh your News Feed to find interesting stories,if someone is broadcasting live, it’ll pop to the top of the page. This makes sense since you’ll be interested in experiencing their moments with them instead of after the fact.
So the next time you open your feed, and see some live videos pop up near the top of your timeline, don’t be surprised. Meanwhile, the rest of the news feed is expected to be unffected by the change.
