Apple is on track and fans of the iPhone making company will be able to sample its latest offerings as early as March. The company will likely be introducing a brand new, 4-inch iPhone along with an iPad Air at an event on Tuesday, March 15th and will put them up for sale from Friday itself.
The rumors — if they do materialize — will mark a significant departure from the general trend. Apple usually follows the strategy of unveiling its devices in highly public events and spending some time generating hype while allowing pre-orders. However, a mere three day gap between the event itself and before sales actually start, does away with any chance of pre-orders.
The change could imply several things. It could for example, mean that Apple is feeling supremely confident in its devices and expects them to sell like hot potatoes.
Moving to the products themselves, the iPhone 5se is an upgraded version of the iPhone 5. The device was initially thought to be a smaller sized variant of the iPhone 6 and indeed, the list of features available with it is expected to combine many of the 6 series best with the iPhone 5.
For example, the device is expected to come with the same 8/1.2 MP rear/back camera combination deployed by the iPhone 6. The device is also expected to pack A9/M9 chips under its hood and an NFC chip for Apple Pay.
Next up is the iPad Air 3. This is really one department that hasn’t seen much activity in recent times and considering CEO Tim Cook’s firm belief in tablets, it is kind of surprising. The last significant device from the series came out back in 2014 and then Apple skipped one year, choosing to focus instead upon the iPhones and the Apple watch.
However, the March event is expected to correct that with the iPad Air 3 going on air. The device is expected to make up for the one year delay by bringing some significant upgrades on board. Based on the tom tom beating on the streets — and the tom toms beat true as often as not — the device may just feature enhanced speakers, a smart connector for improved keyboard connections, improved cameras and maybe, just maybe a rear led flash!
Apart from iPads and iPhones, Apple is expected to give its watch department a slight push by introducing variety into its bands. Apart from new colors, a Space Black Milanese Loop, and NATO-style nylon bands may also be on the cards.
And yes, like always, we will be covering the event LIVE , so Stay tuned!
