HouseJoy, which claims to be the largest home services company in India’s scattered market, has today announced the acquisition of MyWash, an on-demand dry cleaning and laundry service provider for an undisclosed amount.

After the acquisition, the company hopes that the combination of both companies will give the combined entity unprecedented potential to scale and own the laundry vertical.

With this acquisition, it has become the largest player in laundry across India and further strengthens Housejoy’s position as the leading home services company in India.

Commenting about the acquisition, Saran Chatterjee, CEO at Housejoy said,

Laundry is strategic to Housejoy. The MyWash team is a super smart team and has demonstrated the best operational know how to scale laundry. We couldn’t be more excited about the possibilities. We now have the possibility to accelerate the growth in laundry beyond the current growth rate.

Raghu Bharat, Co-Founder at MyWash said,

We see a lot of synergy between MyWash and Housejoy. This is the best opportunity for the team to scale our vision of being the number 1 Laundry player in the country.

MyWash was founded in 2014 by Silus Chintapalli, Raghu Bharat and Balaji Ashok. The company had a team of around 20 people and around 200 delivery personnel were on its payroll. As a part of the acquisition deal, 10 core members of MyWash will join HouseJoy, including the cofounders.

Started in January 2015, Housejoy provides an aggregation of services to customers ensuring punctuality, quality and reliability. They perform a wide variety of services ranging from maintenance and home repairs to high quality plumbing, electrical services, home cleaning and computer repairs.

The company also offers specialized services in beauty and in-house bridal make-up and are expanding their service portfolio. Now, the company will also take care of laundry and dry cleaning, with pickup and delivery right at your door step. It is looking to scale to 10, 000 services per day over the next year for the laundry vertical.
