When it comes to driving, it’s wise to have a brief info on the traffic condition for the road that you are about to hit on. That’s exactly what Google thinks and has therefore descended a fresh update to Maps for iOS that will give you a spoken summary of the traffic condition before you move out.

It will also give you any accidents, traffic congestion and other traffic problems alerts. That would be pretty handy and might save you a from a nasty traffic jam.

The feature would work when you use Navigation provided in Maps whilst driving. The update bumps the app to version 4.12.0 also brings some bug fixes along that persisted in previous version of the application.

This is an important update, provided that you cannot stick your eyes to mobile screens while driving. A voice assistance would do far better than textual one.

The feature is not very new to Maps. It has been persisting in Android version of the application since May.

Here’s the complete change log –

• Easily add new and missing businesses from the sidebar
• Spoken traffic alerts in Navigation tell you about congestion and incidents on your route and traffic descriptions give you a summary of traffic before you drive
• Bug fixes
