Time and again we have wished for an app that would let us dictate our messages and save all the tedious typing. Well, Google, the virtual Santa Claus has gotten something like that ready just for us and a Google Now update is all that is needed to fulfil all your dictation fantasies.

The update will allow you to dictate and send messages through a whole bunch of third party messaging apps that include Whatsapp along with others like WeChat, Viber, Telegram, and NextPlus.

All that will be required is the latest version of Google Now. Simply say Ok Google, Send a message to Whatsapp John, and Voila! You are ready to dictate your message to John on Whatsapp.

Although available only in English, the feature is expected to follow soon for local languages as well and forms part of Google’s drive to displace other virtual assistants in the market, that include the likes of Microsoft’s Cortana and Apple’s Siri.

The update also comes with several other add-ins, that include cards from your favorite services and a whole bunch of brand new commands for your virtual assistants.

A bibliophile and a business enthusiast.
