The Video Music Awards are upon us and Apple and MTV were expected to announce the nominees for the same today. While MTV has gone ahead and tweeted the names of several nominees, there has not been as much as a peek on the topic from Apple. Why ? Because Apple’s music services are all down right now.

Around the same time that Apple was supposed to announce the nominees for the VMA, many of the company’s services, such as the iOS and Mac App Store, Apple Music, Apple TV, the iBooks Store and several iTunes services have all stopped working.

Cloud services on the other hand, are functioning more or less normally and users can still save and access their data on Apple’s servers.

Beats 1, which was responsible for the VMA nominations, is also off the grid.

Apple added this to its status page,

All Store Services – Some users are affected. Users are experiencing a problem with the services listed above. We are investigating and will update the status as more information becomes available.

Prompting even more raised eyebrows.

We will keep you updated as to the status of Apple’s beleaguered services, in the meanwhile, those interested in the VMA can check the nominations out from MTV’s official twitter account.
