Restaurant discovery app Zomato, which expanded into the food ordering domain a couple of months ago, today flagged off online payment option for its users in India for orders made through both, its web and mobile platforms.
However, all restaurants listed on Zomato aren’t covered for online payment for the time being. In order to bring online payments into action, the company has partnered with PayPal.
Starting today, users can use their credit cards, debit cards and net banking to make the payments for the orders they make through Zomato. Also, you get to apply promo codes while making payments which could help you save a few bucks.
The new update will also add Zomato Credits to your Zomato interface, which would store all your referral credits and also the refunds, if anything goes wrong.
Apart from introducing online payments, the company has also introduced filters to help one manage one’s bookmarked restaurants and also leaderboards for Bloggers and Foodies in selected cities.
Introducing online payment system would rather add flexibility to how users prefer to make payments for their ordered food. Moreover, a dedicated wallet and promo codes system would push users to use Zomato whenever they crave for food and also prefer its payment system which would definitely allow substantial discounts.
While online ordering has players like Food Panda, it could make Zomato a serious contender, largely because of the immense amount of database it has, and user’s preference for the app while discovering a food joint.
We’ll get you comments from Zomato once we hear from them. Till then, thats all tech new reporting for Saturday (gosh, why am I even doing this on a Saturday !). Just noticed the update, so thought you guys should know.
Enjoy your weekend fellas !
