Its been four years since Instagram launched, and we’ve started to see a gradual boil down of its craze among the youth. To re-ignite that craze, Instagram has now started out E-Mail based “Highlights”, the very same strategy which was earlier followed by Twitter to cling to your email inbox.
Instagram, the popular Facebook-owned photo sharing network started sending out “highlights” emails to some of its users this month in an attempt to keep users more engaged and lure in those who have been off the grid for some time.
Highlights email will basically show you the best posts from some of the people you follow. Alternatively it could also serve to show photos that people might be interested in. This is done is by sending out emails to its users in the form of Highlights, kind of like how Twitter reminds you of tweets you might have missed.
Instagram has been working with same format for four years now, which aggregates to the reason for users stepping out of the photo sharing network. Also, if you happen to follow too many users on Instagram, scouring for photographs from only your loved ones can be a hectic task.
This brings unnecessarily too many people into focus that you are not so much interested in. With highlights, Instagram wants to feature photos that you would like to see and help you to cut through the mass of information you are getting.
Instagram said that this is the first type of promotional email they are sending out.
