At its global launch event in New Delhi’s monumental Siri Fort Auditorium, Xiaomi launched the Mi Band for its Indian fanbase. While Mi 4i took the center stage, the Mi Band, priced at a minimal Rs.999 is sure to give all other smartband manufacturers a run for their money.

We had earlier reviewed the Mi Band on a comprehensive basis, and had repeatedly stressed on the band’s affordability. More so, it provides all of  those usual smartband features at a humble price.

Launched  on 22 July 2014, the Mi Band is powered by Google’s Android 4.4 OS. The smartband features an extremely power efficient accelerometer, with Built-in rechargeable battery that Xiaomi claims, has a standby time of over 30 days. The smartband can connect with your device via Bluetooth 4.0.

The band is built using TPSiV – one of the world’s best thermoplastic elastomers. Its has been proven to posses brilliant anti-UV, anti-microbial, and anti-allergic properties, meaning that it’s unlikely to irritate even the most sensitive skin. It is soft to the touch and fits snugly for ultimate wearing comfort.

It will go on sale on April 28 via the company’s mi.com website. Furthermore, Xiaomi’s Hugo Barra also announced that the first 1,000 units of the smartband will be on sale for just Re 1.
