Online grocery market is the hottest section in India right now. And though we have only seen startups like Bigbasket or ZopNow entering the field, we now have India’s biggest business powerhouse, the mighty Tata Group entering the domain, with My247market.com. The online platform is operated by Fiaora Hypermarket Limited – A Tata Enterprise.

My247Market.com offers products in multiple categories, including fruits, vegetables, eggs and meats, bakery products, beverages, etc. Currently, it only offers service in selected pincodes of Mumbai, including 400059, 400060, 400069 and 400093. However, they are planning to expand to other major cities soon. Expansion doesn;t seem to be much of an issue considering that the venture has Tata Group’s backing.

The website offers free delivery for all bills costing more than Rs. 750. As an introductory offer, it is offering flat 5% off on bill amount. After the introductory offer, it will charge Rs. 50 for deliveries for orders costing less than Rs. 1,500.

Unlike other online grocery portals, My247market offers widest range of products as it is not limited to groceries. It also offers products in categories of baby care, personal care, home utilities and pet care. ZopNow, which recently secured a $10 million round, is one of the startups offering delivery of your entire household product range rather than just grocery.

Star Bazaar is the supply chain partner of My247market but is limited to just supply chain partner. Customers will not be able to earn or redeem Star Bazaar Clubcard points nor they will be able to use Star Bazaar’s gift card/cash card to pay for purchases made on my247market.com.

As we said earlier, online grocery sector seems to be the hottest sector in India. India is the 6th largest grocery market in the world. Amazon recently launched KiranaNow.com and Flipkart is also planning to jump into this sector by the end of second half of 2015.

Currently, in India, only 1% of groceries are purchased online. The major players in this market include BigBasket, Amazon(through Kirana Now), Reliance Fresh and Localbanya.
