This has become so synonymous with an Apple launch. Just days before the official launch, all sorts of reports, leaks, analysis start to pour in, claiming different shipment figures, and Apple Watch isn’t an exception to all that glitz and glamour.
According to a Strategy Analytics report, Apple’s upcoming smartwatch is expected to claim a hulk-sized share of over 55% of the total smartwatch market share in 2015 , with around 15 million units being shipped globally, and that too intially.
Strategy Analytics director, Cliff Raskind said-
Global smartwatch shipments are forecast to reach 28.1 million units in 2015, up 511% from the 4.6 million units shipped in 2014. Most of the smartwatch growth will come from the new Apple Watch, which the firm forecasts to ship 15.4 million units worldwide in 2015.
These statistics come months before a shipment initiation for the Apple Watch. Considering the momentum that Apple is gaining for its smartwatch, these figures are likely to rise and might stage a staggering example of a potential clean sweep to its competitors.
However, experts from the same analytics firm say that “Apple’s first-generation Watch is not yet perfect.” Apple Watch’s hardware design is unarguably less attractive than some rival models such as the Huawei Watch. That definitely is a downside, considering iPhone’s prowess on that front.
Battery life too is a big issue. It may not be as long as many traditional wristwatch owners are used to, and Apple’s premium pricing is obviously a big roadblock. Strategy analytics further adds that “it may be challenging for mass-market consumers.”
Ever since smartwatches projected a promising future, every famous or infamous firm has started to lay all their efforts in fabricating the highest technology possible to their wearables, in terms of hardware as well design. Look at the history and Apple has offered an enormous upgrade with every iteration they introduce to their devices and grasp in a little more portion of the market share and that is what has made it the most valuable company till date.
Apple Watch is expected to meet an official unveiling at a Media event to be held on March 9, with the tagline “Spring Forward”.
