Over 2 decades old U.S.-based hedge fund Maverick Ventures, today marked their India debut leading a huge $15 Million round into Vserv, a smart-data platform focussed towards mobile marketing. This round takes Vserv’s total funding to $18 Million till date, which includes a $3 Million round it raised from IDG Ventures earlier.

Co-founded in 2010 by Dippak Khurana and Ashay Padwal, Vserv offers numerous solutions for mobile marketing via its smart data platform. Its flagship platform, AudiencePro™, ties together data from multiple sources such as offline and online marketers, telecom operators, mobile app developers and other third party sources.

The platform then creates user personas and triggers real time intent signals thereby enabling unprecedented discovery, analysis and monetization of end users. Vserv currently claims to have over 500 Million unique user profiles globally with over 80 attributions to its credit.

Dippak Khurana, Co-Founder & CEO, Vserv, said,

Maverick has a successful history of investing early in large scale mobile platforms globally. We are delighted to be their first venture capital investment in India as they bring capital and deep technology domain expertise. We are thrilled to have them join us to build the leading smart data platform for mobile marketing across India and South East Asia.

To understand Vserv’s platform more deeply, let us take an example of your usual car-dealer. Once you go to a car-dealer for a test-drive, you show your intent towards buying that particular model. More often, you also leave your mobile number out there.

Now, one of the user persona which Vserv has generated is something called “Music Lovers“. Syncing the intent you showed by taking that test drive with Vserv’s “Music Lovers” user persona, the car dealer can re-market to you with a relevant offer for an audio system upgrade.

In India alone, the Internet user base is expected to explode from 200 million today to 500 million users by 2018, primarily driven by mobile users who are expected to contribute over 80% of this base. It currently has offices in India and South-East Asia.

In this high growth environment, Vserv has strategically positioned itself with rich data profiles of over 120 million mobile internet users in India. It has mined this data to deliver mobile marketing for over 500 clients across sectors like Consumer Goods, E-commerce, Retail, Telecom, Banking & Financial Services, Mobile Entertainment and Gaming.

The company is also displaying its products in the ongoing Mobile World Congress at Barcelona this year for you to have a look at it.
