Samsung earlier announced its plan to launch a smartphone running on the company’s own Tizen operatin system. Now, the company is planning to launch Z1, the first smartphone running on Tizen OS by the end of this month in India.

Samsung Z1 has been spotted online several times. It is an entry-level smartphone and expected specs of the device include a 4-inch 480p display with a pixel density of 288ppi, a 1.2GHz processor paired along with 512MB of RAM and a 3.2-megapixel camera. It will run on Tizen OS 2.3.

Samsung will hold a press conference on December 10 to launch its first Tizen smartphone called the Z1, reports NDTV Gadgets. The company initially planned to launch the phone in Russia in the third quarter but discarded the plan to enhance its eco-system.

Samsung is trying to reduce its dependency on Google’s Android by focusing on Tizen OS for its devices. Currently, Samsung’s smartwatches are the only device, which sport a Tizen OS.
