Sony suddenly experienced one of the worst ever DDOS attacks in hacking history, when a hacking group named Lizard squad hacked the Playstation network.

Sony, in an official statement, has said that there has no leak of personal data, but access to the Playstation network has been severly affected. This is what Sony had to say :

Although this has impacted your ability to access our network and enjoy our services, no personal information has been accessed.

Sony hasn’t posted any new updates regarding the recovery yet, so we are assuming that it has not been able to resolve the attack. As a result, many North American PS users expereienced this problem, even after 10 hours of the outage.

The unsusal part of this attack is a threat, to Sony Online Entertainment President John Smedley. The threat was against the plane in which he was travelling, which was later diverted to Phoenix. As per TechCrunch, the cargo of the plane was being inspected (about 7 hours ago) for prescence of explosives, as claimed by Lizard Squad.
